Born
in 1956 ,Kisanghani,Democratique Republic of Congo. I am Belgian.
I
came to the painting at the age of 40. In no way do I regard it
as occupation but as the vocation wich could have evoked earlier,
should only the life had decided it the other way.
The
art of framing also plays an important role in my works. I am
deeply convinced that a painting and a framing are complementary
things, the unity of which often gives that vital impression of
finalisation and complexion of the work.
My
favourite painting themes are portraits, landscapes, masterpieces
of Egyptian art of all periods of its remarkable history.
I
chose the golden Toutenkhamon mask for my logo and placed it on
the welcome page of my website. I am very glad that its depiction
is the first thing that catches the eyes of all the visitors of
my site, as it testifies my fascination for the real masterpieces
created by the artists and artisans of the ancient Egypt.
Leonard
da Vinci charmed me with his creative genius and his exceptional
gift for painting.
His
moto " The art is a way to discover the world and to submit
the knowledge to the experience " is still actual nowadays
and will make a long way in the future..
In
2001, the fatal cancer desease that brutaly stopped the life of
my younger brother, brought me to the decision to take up the
torch of his love for African art. Usually African artist are
not well-know outside their home countries, though many of them
are distinguished by exceptional talent for various kinds of art.
Oil paintings, masks, bronze and wooden statues are all breathing
with tradition and originality of the African culture. I invite
you to discover them and bring them out of the shadow.
The
paintings of this website come from my private collection. More
paintings will be soon available.
I
would like to thank two ladies ,Liz Rossi from Chapel Hill in
North Carolina and Iana Spiridovskaia, a collegue , for the precious
help they gave me. I would like to extend my gratitude to Stève
Beikirch. It is a great honour for me to see that many of his
Egypt photographs are printed in the "Encyclopdia of Ancient
Egypt". And also to Felix and Lin Dupré, I have been
fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion for painting
with them and they also impacted my career as a painter. This
website could not have been possible without the friendship and
support of these wonderful people.
If
you have any questions or comments to make, it will be my pleasure
to respond to them.
Thank
you.
