On this site you'll find my vold modded GeForce 7 GS/GT description, Nvidia card tweaks, drivers and more. To get the best out of it (best value for money?). Although it's about the Geforce Verto PNY7600, all other 7600-users will find these tweaks useful. Some cards may very well be compatible with the vmod described here. All modifications you do on your card is totally at your own risk! I can not be held responsible for any damage you do to your card by using the BIOS'es found here or the tweaks, drivers or VoltMod! You do all this at your OWN risk.

We gladly mod your BIOS'es (any card) for a small donation of 10euro/dollar. This can include your name or nick, your desired memory/gpu clock speeds, your wanted type of default video output (PAL/NTSC), Fastwrites, SBA, FAN speeds, etc.

Default Overclocking

PNY7600GS 256MB AGP
Default card from the box

The PNY Geforce 7600GS comes out of the box with clock speeds of 400/400. This card can be safely overclocked without any problem to 430MHz GPU and 430MHz (x2 860Mhz) memory with stock cooling. Temps won't go anything above 65C° full load and the RAM doesn't get hot at all. Even after hours of gaming and hours of running the 3DMark05 demo did not crash nor has any artifacting been discovered! Surely a safe OC. These frequencies can be set by using Coolbits (which works from within Nvidia control panel) or with RivaTuner. If you have a PNY 7600GS AGP 256Mb card, you can use my own modded BIOS. No need for extra tools to get the safe but decent OC. With a Zalman cooler and RAM sinks you could easily push it to 460/445. Always test your OC's in some benchmarks and games.

VoltMod Overclocking

Vmod RAM Geforce PNY7600GSMemory voltmod + 0.05 mV

The memory voltmod can be done by soldering a resistor of 14k between pin 4 and pin 8 of the voltage MEM controler chip TR9259A (the 16-pin chip found in the lower right corner) See image. Default resistor measured was 730 Ohm, decreased to 693 Ohms. This will increase the voltage safely with 50 mv.

Voltmod GPU Geforce PNY7600GSGPU voltmod + 0.10 mV

The GPU core voltmod can be done by soldering a resistor of 10k between pin 4 and pin 8 of the voltage GPU controler chip TR9259A (the 16-pin chip found in the upper right corner) See image. (default resistor value measured was 960 Ohm, decreased to 870 Ohms). This will increase the voltage safely with 100 mv. Measured from stock being already 100mv higher then normal for a 7600GS-type card: 1,2V to 1,3V. Same as the 7600GT graphic processor core. For those who didn't already know: the 7600GS has the same core as the 7600GT, just slightly undervolted (is why they are so cool in temps) and ofcourse the core clock is lower.

I know these are moderate OC's with a voltmod, but this is not the -push to extreme- modding. People who are advanced modders would surely go al lot further! The point of it all is to allow you to show where and how you can voltmod your 7600GS graphic card. Remember: all mods or OC's you'll do this at your OWN risk.

Always check the voltages with a digital calibrated voltage meter. Measurements points are shown in the pic.
The wires are connect to the elco measuring the GPU voltage.

  • Geforce 7 and 8 does not work under windows 98 or windows Me. However, with this modded driver you can make those cards run in Windows 98/Me! Download the driver, unzip it to your temp directory. Then right-click on Desktop -> Properties -> Settings tab -> Advanced button -> Adapter tab -> Change button -> check "Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)" -> check "Display a list of drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want" -> Have disk button -> browse to C:\TEMP -> double-click on NVAGP.INF -> OK button
    The Nvidia driver is based upon the official Nvidia Forceware 91.47 driver.
