| Though situated on a popular beach, we were not disappointed at all. Besides the more common touristic plates they serve unusual tasty dishes such as crabcroquettes (kabournakeftedj), ovenbaked mussels with tomatoes and cheese (mudia saganaki), filled potatoe with cheese and tune (patata yuth me tono kai turi), small fried fishes (gabroj). They also have good barrel wine. We returned the next day to enjoy again a pleasant time. | |
| We had a good experience with this restaurant some years ago and decided to go once again. They still serve very tasty food and it is specialized in (very expensive) fresh fish. We took e.g. sargos (sargj) and paid 21 Euro for 500 gr. The bacaliaro (mpakaliara), octopus (ctapodi) and other plates were normally priced. | |

Having a large ouzo time with some mezedes, we were not very hungry and decided to eat just a pasta carbonara. The overwhelming kindness of the waiters when entering the restaurant changed suddenly as they took the order of 2 carbonaras and a botte of wine (Ilio). We had to pay 25,6 Euro which was not too much because the food was OK, but it’s a pity you are sometimes confronted with this attitude. |

Elia (Rhodos new town) |
A very carefully kept
place recommended by the lady of the hotel. We were a bit sceptic because
of the large notice boards in several languages outside to announce the
menu but were surprised about the excellent quality and selection of the
food. Nearly all the dishes were very tasty and reasonably priced. Stuffed
oven zucchinis (Kolokuqakia
sto fourno), lamb in the oven
(arni sto fourno), dolmades
(ntolmadej), ovenbaked mussels with tomatoes and cheese
(mudia saganaki), cheesecroquettes (turikeftedej),
mussels in cream sauce
(mudia a la krem), mixed small pittas
(zumi pittej),
and tasty barrel wine.

Murovolos (Rhodos old town) |
In the tourist books described as ‘Entos ton Teeohon’ but apparently having a new management. They don’t have much places outside in the small surrounded courtyard and inside it’s really too hot during warm summer days. The selection we ordered was tasty with the exception of one plate (ouzokeftedej) which we promptly mentioned to the staff. They wimpled if off as if we were not used to the ouzo taste. I must admit that we are daily ouzo drinkers and using often ouzo when cooking. I was astonished being billed for it as we didn’t consume it. They could at least taste it themselves in order to judge if we were wrong or not. But why should they, the place is always full and very busy and we are just tourist passengers. Krima! |

Rhodos town
|
A inhabited fortified mediaval town with exceptional beauties. A visit early in the morning is advisable if you won’t being among hordes of tourists. Just walk around and don’t miss a visit to the archeological museum, the Grand Masters’ Palace, the Ippoton street and the main squares. |
|
Lindos
|
A cycladic village at the foot of the Acropolis - to the south-east of Rhodos town. The Acropolis with the remains of a Doric temple is the most famous of the Dodecanese and has stunning views. The village is very photogenic but during the day there are too much tourists as every visitor of Rhodos will be advised to visit it. Prices for drinks are rather expensive in Lindos but down to the beach we discovered a very good restaurant at low prices. |
|
Kallithea
|
About 10 km to the south of Rhodos town is the Italian spa resort with nice mosaic floors. The restoration which started a couple of years ago is not yet finished, a great complex still being closed. The entrance is free due to these restorations. |
|
Skala Kamirou
|
A little harbour on the west coast from where boats are leaving for Chalki (a small island we plan to visit in September) and not far from the interesting ancient site Kamiros. There are a couple of restaurants. |
|
Koskinou
|
In this village you can find the same typical doorways of the captain’s houses in Lindos and often the entrance is cobbled with the very attractive and typical black and white pebbles (hochlaka) which you mostly will find on the Dodecanese islands. |
|
Apollona-Profitis
Ilias
|
The conjunction between Lindos and the Profitis Ilias is a pleasant drive along a panoramic earth road which follows the almost dry river bedding. It’s a scenery green route to the interior of Rhodos with lots of shade. |
