1988	Feasibility Study for an Insect Farming and Trading Agency for WWF-Int in Indonesia.
1989-90	Implementation of the Pusppenssat-IrJa Center (Center for Research and Wildlife Sustainable Use) in Irian Jaya - Topo (Nabire) under a CEE start-up funding
1991-99	Development and management of the above Center and field guidance for visiting scientists in primary rainforest
1999-00	Development of the Falconry and Raptors Conservation Center in Biak - Irian Jaya, as a joint venture with the Indonesian Tourism Department.
12/2000	Left Irian Jaya due to miss-management by the Biak FRCC committee and rapid degradation of social and economic climate in Indonesia.

Distinctive qualifications:

 

1.      Livestock fecundity monitoring and management.

2.      Small animals bone surgery.

3.      Animal husbandry: design and field implementation of breeding plans for cattle and wildlife

4.      Entomology: specialized in Micro-lepidoptera since 1975 (no academic degree). Gathered a representative collection of local species with many new discoveries. Designed a specific data base ("Insects of Irian Jaya)

5.      Bird nutrition including food production for carnivorous species.

 

Experience in tropical field

 

1.      Wildlife breeding in Irian Jaya, among most outstanding achievements:

-          Birds: Eclectus Parrot (Eclectus roratus), Brahminy Kite (Haliatur indus), Cassowary (Casuarius unappendiculatus), Scrubfowl (Talegalla fuscirostris), Lesser Bird of Paradise (Paradisea minor)

-          Mammals: Marsupial Cats (Dasyurus geoffroyi), Sugar Glider (Petaurus breviceps), Trioks (Dactiopsila trivirgata), Tree Kangaroo (Dendrolagus ursinus).

-          Reptiles: Green Tree Python (Chondropython viridis), Tiliquas (Tiliqua gigas)

-          Insects breeding: more than 200 species among which the extremely rare and vulnerable Ornithoptera meridionalis

2.      Production livestock:

-          Indonesian deer (Cervus timorensis) feed-lot management

3.      Social & education: 10-year uninterrupted training program promoting the Irian Jaya Ekari communities (mechanics; carpentry; electricity; construction and community-based management and breeding of local wildlife resources).

4.      Tourism development in Irian Jaya:

-          implementation of basic accommodation premises and guided tours for visiting biologists at Pusppenssat-IrJa Center

-          community-based eco-tourism development with Ekari and Serui natives (trekking, hiking and coral reefs exploration) leading to the creation of two local companies (Irian Nature & World of Irian Inc.)

5.      Falconry and Hawking:

-          designed and implemented the first Falconry Center in Asia (Biak island) with the Belgian Falconer Kris Grootaert

-          gathered and maintained the best collection of Indonesian Raptors (60 specimens in 16 species)

-          start-up in 1999 of the first Hawking and Raptors Breeding Program in Asia (Ictinaetus malayensis, Spizaetus cirrhatus, Aquila gurneyi)

 

Miscellaneous qualifications:

 

1.      Good mechanic and micro-mechanic skills (welding and lath machines)

2.      Designed and built a twin in-flight adjustable pitch fan, 6-seater air-cushion vehicle (hovercraft) for navigation in swamps and rivers in Nabire, Irian Jaya.

3.      Single-engine and aerobatics license: (300h on Cessna 150-170, 80h on Cap10)

4.      Good photographic skills.

5.      Computer skills: data base development (faunistics) and proficient in visual basic, html and imaging. Web design: http://www.biak.net, promoting the Biak region for the Government of the Irian Jaya Province.
