If there is one program, even rookies can design their graphics with, it's Microsoft Image Composer. I would not be amazed if you have never heard of it before, because most of the attention goes to Photoshop and Paint Shop pro, but Image Composer is a powerful tool to create great graphics, without to be a pro. I still use Image composer for freesources.web because it's just so easy, and it works really fast. There are lots of special effects and filters, but also good tools to create ovals, rectangles,... The only things I miss, is a line drawing tool and a "magic cutter". This is the program you need to create graphics for your website. It's delivered free with FP 2000, but you can not buy it at your software store. It's easy to work with but is still very powerful. A must!
