"Rencontres 2008"

EPTA is happy to invite you to join the ninth piano festival “Les Rencontres Internationales des jeunes Pianistes”. Selections and final will be taking place in Waterloo from November 25 to 30.

The criteria for being selected will not only be the musical and pianist qualifications but also the originality of the program and the personality of the interpreter. Renowned pianists and pedagogues, members of EPTA will take the decisions. You can find here the Rules.

Several prices will be distributed at the end of the final. “EPTA-BELGIUM W-B” will also choose the pianists being invited to play at concerts organized during the following concert season in Wallonia and Brussels.

The decisions taken by EPTA are final.
“Les Rencontres Internationales des Jeunes Pianistes” Invites
all young pianists of age maximum 24.

Cat. 1: born after 1 of January 1998
Cat. 2: born after 1 of January 1994
Cat. 3: born after 1 of January 1990
Cat. 4: born after 1 of January 1984

2) One (or more) piece(s) of free choice.

Cat. 2:
1) One Two or Three parts Invention
(or Preludia & Fuga from WTC) by J.S. BACH
2) One (or more) piece(s) of free choice.
total timing: 12 min

Cat. 3:
1) One Preludium & Fuga from
“ Das Wohltemperiertes Klavier” by J.S. BACH
2) Two (or more) pieces of free choice
total timing: 20 min

Cat. 4:
1) One Preludium & Fuga from
“ Das Wohltemperiertes Klavier” by J.S. BACH
2) One virtuoso etude
3) One piece by a Belgian composer from the 20th or 21st century
4) One piece of free choice
total timing: 22 min

Program for the Final:

CAT 1:
Two (or more) pieces of free choice.
One piece composed after 1950
total timing: 8 min

CAT 2:
1) A classical Sonatina (complete) or a movement of a sonate)
2) One (or more) piece(s) of free choice.
3) One piece composed after 1950
total timing: 14 min

CAT 3:
1) One movement of a classical sonata (first or last).
2) One (or more) piece(s) of free choice.
3) One piece composed after 1950
total timing: 22 min

CAT 4:
A free program
total timing: 25 min
