| HISTORY The brother of the lord of Corbion, named Sebastien, finding the gun very bulky, got into his head to perfect . He sawed very simply the barrel of this one, that had for consequence to reduce his range of some centimetres. Sebastien forged a conical barrel to stretch out the range of this weapon. Sebastien named this new firearm : 'Pistollet.' taking the inspiration from a little weapen that the Italians ware on their belt. You can see the arms of the lord of Corbion that are composed with 2 crossed pistols on a blue back-side. | ![]() | ||

CULTURE The poet Paul Verlaine stayed there in the 1880s when he came to visit his childhood friend Father Dewez. The fact that the house lay on the banks on the stream which marks the border between France and Belgium meant he could slip back into France easily (he had been forbidden to stay in Belgium after attacking Arthur Rimbaud). | ||
