Here's an interview with a relative new furious Black Metal band from Holland: Warlust! They play pure and hateful warlike Black Metal in the vein of WAR, Enthroned, Marduk, Zyklon-B,… truely a Holocaust…hahaha! Enjoy and get hit by this German Tiger PanzerKraftWagen. 1. Some of you guys played in other bands before Warlust, can you give us some more info about that?
Our singer and bassist both played in Sabbatical Goat, just like you can read in our bio. The rest of us played in some bands, that actually had no name. But it was Black Metal of course!
2. Warlust plays aggressive War Black Metal in the vein of In Battle, War, Natrach, ... Which bands have had a great impact on you? What do you think of keyboard oriented 'Black Metal' or should we call it 'Dark Metal'?
Some of the greatest bands to us are Niden Div. 187, War, Marduk, Mayhem, etc. But there are a lot of great bands nowadays. I also like the Black / Trash bands like Bewitched, Aura Noir, Swordmaster, but the true masters of Black / Trash are Nocturnal Breed. They'ree really great!!! Black Metal with keyboard is really getting on my nerves. Everyone uses a keyboard nowadays and they all want to sound like Cradle, Emperor and Dimmu Borgir. That's not a good development to my opinion. I mean, how aggressive can you be when you have a better sound than most pop-bands, and a keyboard is playing irritating tunes on the 'back-ground'. You should see them live on stage!! You only hear those irritating tunes of the keyboard and the people on stageare smiling and making contact in the audience with friends and family. The only aggressive people in that room are the members of Warlust, because we look at all this and it's just not a pretty picture!!!
3. Nowadays a lot of bands use the subject 'War' like War, Enthroned, Marduk, Niden Div. 187, and many more. What do you find fascinating about warfair? Have you got favourite weapons?
Yes, the subject is becoming popular. But war is fascinating, everyone is interested in war. Most people hate it, because in war cruel things happen. People getting killed, little children and women murdered and often inventors come up with the most sick weapons. But we all like that. All the horror and pain of people. In war you see what kind of cruel beings humans are. People just show their darkest thoughts in war.
4. Warlust also uses the anti-peace symbol in your logo. I believe Abruptum also used it, do you know Abruptum and what do you think of them (and the dwarf IT)?
Abruptum has good CD's. But it's not one of my favourite bands. And IT, yeah what can I say, he's just sick. Just listen to Vondur (and look at the CD, with his yellow paint!). At our first gig with Warlust we played a cover of Vondur, "I Eldur Og Drumor". All though we never played the song before it was fucking great!
5. Are you also -with songs such as 'Diabolical Hordes' and 'Murder of God'- antichristian or satanic? What do you think of these things?
We are all real true atheists. We don't belive in a god, devil or a higher force in nature or somewhere else. There're all just foolish fantasies from people who seek a deeper meaning in life. And refuse to believe that there isn't more in life than the pity life they have right now! So with all our lyrics we are antichristian!
6. Here in Flanders we have some great bands such as Lugubrum, Ancient Rites, Iconoclasm, Natrach, Sudarium (and Enthroned in Wallonia)... do you know some of them and what do you think of the Belgian scene?
Yes ,the Belgian scene is much better than the Dutch scene. I think in Belgium the underground Black is much more appreciated than in Holland. In Holland everyone stares at the big bands from Norway. They don't look in their own country or in the neighbour country. So in Belgium the scene is much better. There are also better bands in Belgium than in Holland: Enthroned, Ancient Rites and yes, bands like Lugubrum and Sudarium also have their charme.
7. Have you ever been here in Belgium? What was your first impression?
I went to Graspop this year and my first impression was that the roads suck and there were no 'patat-boeren' along the road...hahaha! No the landscape in Belgium is much older than in Holland. When you enter Holland, you see high office buildings, nice new forests created by some nerd behind a desk, and stuff like that. In Belgium it's less fake and more natural...
8. What Dutch bands do you think are worth to mention?
Well, there aren't many bands who deserve your attention I think. Well, there's one: Salicious Gods. I personally never heard them, but I spoke Henri Slater of God Enthroned and he said they're good. And that was about it, I think.
9. What do you think of the drug policy in your country? Do you hate the pot-heads or do also 'smoke' sometimes? (or maybe you use other mind-expanding stuff?)
I have no problem with the drug policy in Holland. i just hate the junks, asking for money so they can buy more drugs. I think the government should dispose these people, because they're of no use to anyone. They're completely useless. Some of us in Warlust 'smoke', but I don't have a problem with that, because they don't ask me for money and they're still capable to play.
10. What do you think of Death Metal and Grindcore? I don't like the peace loving and animal saving neo-hippies as much Grindpigs are... what do you think of their attitude and music?
I really can't understand those neo-hippies and their stupid thoughts. I never paid much attention to them, because they're not a threat to me. About Death metal and Grindcore, I sometimes listen to it at live concerts, but Black Metal means much more to me.
11. Do a lot of Dutch girls shave their pussy? What do you think of female genital piercings?
Some of them shave'em and like little girlls (gna, gna!), but some have so much hair you think you're lost in a big dark forest, where there's no way out. So, I would like to take this opportunity to make an official statement: Warlust supports the shaving and piercing of cunts!!!
12. Good and clean teeth are very important, what toothpaste do the members of Warlust use?
Well ,every time when the moon is totally gone, we all go to the forest to 'become one with nature'. We chase some rabbits away from their holes. We take our position in the holse and wait. wait till a squirrel hops by. Then we hunt the squirrel and eat it. And recent studies have shown that the blood of squirrels is filled with a kind of nuclear fluid that immediately kills the germs of teeth. So we don't have to use any toothpaste, because our good little friends, the squirrels, keep our teeth fresh and clean.
13. In Holland there're a lot of 'gabbers', what do you think of these thunderdome-cunts? What do you think of 'Ome Henk'?
Usually they're unbelievably dumb. All they do is listen to little computer-sounds, like a pinball machine. And dancethrough the night using drugs created by a 'chemical genius' using a chemistry box he got on a christmas from his parents 10 years ago. Not my kind of people I can tell you! Ome Henk is fun to listen to, but if you listen to it a couple of times, it's not funny anymore.
14. Do you think aliens are already amongst us?
No!
15. Final question: have you got a favourite type of Tank?
A bit cliché‚ maybe...but the German Tiger still is the most brutal tank ever!!!
